Help Wanted!!!

Green Collar JobsThe above sign is one you don’t see often in this day and time. Jobs have been farmed out to overseas companies, and the result is that the people of other countries benefit from what should be an inalienable right of any American worker. Aside from the thousands of jobs lost in this country to workers in other countries, factories have closed down here in this country and have left thousands without income. This country is in debt many trillions of dollars because of foolish spending and a protracted war, and yet this administration came into power with a budget surplus left by the past administration. And as the economy slides further and further down hill the only surcease offered by the Republican old guard is more coal and more nuclear, neither of which will open up the job market as far as it needs in order to bring prosperity back to this country.

What then, is the answer? Think about the promise of a clean, never-ending (renewable) power and a never-ending fuel supply in the United States that depends on our ability to harness energy from sources such as the wind, sunlight, organic matter, the Earth’s internal heat, and from rivers. However, making this promise a reality requires WORKERS dedicated to leading this country toward a sustainable energy future. This country needs to be starting classrooms for mechanics, electricians, steel workers, auto workers and all the backbone of the American working class so that they can learn everything they need to know to help provide the nuts-and-bolts basics for renewable energy. Wind turbines, solar power, and the restructuring of the mechanics of the new world of renewable energy requires well-trained technicians in every facet of the renewable world from building wind turbines, to installation of solar, to retooling of automobiles so that they can run on CNG (compressed natural gas), to the manufacturing of fuel cells. And in the building trades the whole new world of renewable energy in home building will bring requirements of retraining in many, many areas of that industry.

The man next in the Whitehouse who knows how to get all this accomplished is the one we want to vote for. Not the one who wants coal and nuclear and the same old politics of past “depression era” energy policies. Nor do we want a vice president (a heartbeat away from an aged president) who doesn’t believe in evolution or change of any kind from the “good old boy” politics of old.

What we need is a forward thinking energy policy that will put Americans to work, put money back in our pockets, food on the table, and peace and security in a world far removed from the nuclear threat we live under now.

PEACE AND PROSPERITY IN OUR TIME IS POSSIBLE.
